The Missing by Ray Gabaldón

After the Thomas Fire ravaged the area, Montecito was beset by another tragedy: a horrible mudslide. The mudslide took the lives of 23 people and destroyed 130 homes. This series is in remembrance of the lives lost in Montecito on January 9, 2018. 

After the mudslides, Ray began walking on the beach trying to make sense of this tragedy. During the walks, he started seeing faces in the driftwood that had washed ashore. These moments of inspiration lead to a collection of meaningful pieces. For the last three years Ray has crafted these sculptures, each with its own unique detail and spirit.
